Rethink Your Design: 4 Outdated Bathroom Remodel Trends

Remodeling your bathroom requires careful planning and patience. While you may have several ideas that you’re ready to share with a trusted professional, have you considered whether they might be considered “outdated?” While you’re welcome to move forward with your preferred design, there are a few trends you might want to rethink before getting started. Here are four worth reconsidering.

No Color, Just White

Once considered a trendy idea for those who are minimalists and prefer a sleeker design, the all-white bathroom is no longer considered “in style.” Experts state that although the color offers a crisp and clean appearance, it can also create a colder, less inviting environment.

This is unlikely to be what you want your guests to experience when walking into your bathroom, so you might rethink this idea; instead, choose warmer colors that offer a cozier feel.

Top of the Counter Sinks

Also known as “vessel sinks,” these are now considered extremely messy, lacking the kind of functionality most homeowners need. While interior designers claim they may be okay for smaller bathrooms, those found in larger spaces often do not blend well with the overall space.

Instead, you can opt for a built-in sink or one that is custom-made from stone, especially if you want to generate a wow factor.

Exposed Bulbs

When it comes to lighting in your bathroom, don’t opt for exposed bulbs. These present an outdated look, especially one that is from the 80s and 90s.

If you want your space to appear more modern instead of old-fashioned and uninspiring, choose sconces or hanging fixtures to light up your bathroom.

Oversized Tubs & Jacuzzis

If you want your bathroom to feel like a spa, you may prefer to go with a walk-in shower instead of a jacuzzi or oversized tub. Not only do these massive installations take up a lot of space inside your bathroom, but they’re often hard to clean and require a lot of maintenance.

An upgraded walk-in shower with specialized hardware can generate a sense of relaxation, much in the same way that a large bathtub can.

When thinking about what you want your new bathroom to look like, make sure the ideas you have will keep your space looking on point in the years ahead.
